			<title>Dutch Ministry Wants Guarantees from .NL Domain Registry SIDN</title>
			<link>http://www.domainnews.com/en/general/dutch-ministry-wants-guarantees-from-.nl-domain-registry-sidn.html</link>
			<description>

The Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs wants guarantees that the .nl domain will remain sovereign and accessible under all circumstances. State Secretary, Frank Heemskerk, believes that since the .nl domain has such large public interest, the security and sovereignty for the Netherlands must be guaranteed by domain registry SIDN.

To that end, the Ministry wants to sign an agreement with Dutch Domain Registry SIDN in mid-June, which will help secure those concerns. This move is reflected in a written reply by the State Secretary that was also addressing concerns about the collapsed landrush of numeric domains, which we reported on earlier.

			<title>CEO of Pool.com Responds to Allegations of Foul Play</title>
			<link>http://www.domainnews.com/en/general/ceo-of-pool.com-responds-to-allegations-of-foul-play.html</link>
			<description>
Today, we received a reply from Richard Schreier, CEO of Pool.com in response to our recent article (en/general/dotasia-ceo-responds-to-allegations-of-foul-play.html) referring to accusation that the dotAsia Registry and Pool.com of foul play during the .asia auction process last year. Mr. Schreier wrote...

 Dear Chief Editor,

I would like to provide a response to the false and defamatory statements posted at www.dotasia-complot.org by Thomas Reucker and Madunia Modellbau GmbH. It should be noted that we believe the actions taken by Thomas Reucker and Madunia Modellbau GmbH are a retaliation by Reucker/Madunia as a result of their exclusion from certain DotAsia auctions (which Reucker/Madunia itself discloses on the &amp;ldquo;notes&amp;rdquo; section of the website). This exclusion was the result of the investigation by Pool.com and the DotAsia Organisation into possible bid rigging (ref. here), which in Canada is a criminal act punishable by fines and imprisonment...

			<title>MySpace Wins Uncollectable $234 Million Award In Spam Case</title>
			<link>http://www.domainnews.com/en/general/myspace-wins-uncollectable-234-million-award-in-spam-case.html</link>
			<description>
As most of you know, last month MySpace won its case against Sanford Spamford Wallace -- the infamous 1990s Spam King who (despite losing many court battles and owing millions in fines) simply can't seem to give up his obsession with scammy marketing techniques. The win was a default judgment, mainly because Wallace simply disappeared and stopped responding to court requests.

Today, a judge ruled on the punishment, officially awarding MySpace $234 million from Wallace and his associate Walter Rines. Given Wallace's disappearing act (which he's done in the past as well) it's unlikely that MySpace will ever see a dime of the money, but that hasn't stopped the company from touting this as the largest ever award under CAN SPAM. Amusingly, the extremely short court ruling also bars Wallace from setting up any new MySpace profiles. It doesn't say anything about Facebook, though, so perhaps that's where we'll see him next...

			<title>Clarification:  .PL Domain Registration Count</title>
			<link>http://www.domainnews.com/en/general/clarification-.pl-domain-registration-count.html</link>
			<description>
We recently reported that the .PL ccTLD had reached one million registrations but actually we were informed by our friends at www.dnz.pl (http://www.dnz.pl/), a Polish blog about domain names, that as of May 9th only 671,367 .pl domain names had been registered. You can visit this site (http://dns.pl/english/zonestats.html) for the current count.

The 1 million claim was made up of those 670,000 .pl domain registrations and the rest are just subdomain registrations in zones like .com.pl , edu.pl , warszawa.pl , nieruchomosci.pl . So we'll have to wait for the real 1 million a little longer...

			<title>How To Get Started With IDNs</title>
			<link>http://www.domainnews.com/en/general/how-to-get-started-with-idns.html</link>
			<description>How does becoming wealthier than Frank Schilling (http://www.sevenmile.com/) sound? Schilling, the most successful individual domainer in the world, has a portfolio of about 300,000 names, estimated revenue of $20 million dollars per year, and has received several 9-figures offers for his portfolio (http://www.dnjournal.com/cover/2007/december.htm). Yet according to long-time IDN investor and IDN expert David Wrixon, [t]here are IDN investors out there that will make Frank Schilling look like an amateur. When it comes to making money in domaining, there are many strategies (http://www.domainbits.com/experts-secrets/). But if you are looking to capitalize on one strategy that holds a lot of potential, you should check out IDNs. Although you may never be as successful as Schilling, the timing for getting into IDNs is good.</description>

The odds are not in favor of it based on the current economic and humanitarian crises troubling the African continent. Don&amp;rsquo;t be caught putting all your eggs in one basket any time soon.

			<title>DotAsia CEO Responds to Allegations of Foul Play</title>
			<link>http://www.domainnews.com/en/general/dotasia-ceo-responds-to-allegations-of-foul-play.html</link>
			<description>

Last year, the excitement around the new .Asia TLD launch in June was followed by an announcement that Pool.com would act as the exclusive auction partner for the .Asia Registry during the sunrise (launch) period.

It is now being reported (http://www.dotasia-complot.org/cat22.html) that Lucky Rich Richard Schreier, CEO of dotasia-auctioneer Pool.com seems to have won many top-domains for himself in those .asia auctions, by using bidding parties camouflaged as third party companies, but ultimately owned by Richard Schreier.

It is indeed odd that premium .asia domains, which can be worth millions, such as porn.asia, dating.asia, insurance.asia, lotto.asia, stocks.asia, auction.asia, beer.asia, fitness.asia, girls.asia, wine.asia ended up in the hands of the CEO of the exclusive auction partner for the .Asia registry .

So far, complaints sent to Mr. Edmon Chung, CEO of dotasia indicate that he doesn't seem to have any issues with this. His answer to these allegations can be read below...
