AFNIC decided to lean upon the expertise of Yucatan in term of media relations, in order to reinforce its notoriety close to its different audiences.
On March 2nd, 2010 the French Minister for Industry, Christian Estrosi, appointed AFNIC as the Registry for the .fr domain under the Order of 6 February 2007.
AFNIC has developed a technical expertise on the infrastructure and standards of Internet, and also on the domain names market and the legal issues related to them.
By leaning upon these expertises, AFNIC wants to contribute to the development of Internet as well in France as internationally, in particular through the .fr promotion and its research and development activities.
