The proposed operator of the .XXX TLD, Stuart Lawley, has been made a
very rich man as a result of the internet says a report in
BusinessWeek. And now the report says he is proposed to make even more
selling .XXX domain names through his company ICM Registry.
According to the report, Lawley believes he will make around $200
million a year selling .XXX domains at $60 a pop, or around six times
that of .COM and .NET domains "but in line with niche domains such as
dot-travel and dot-jobs."
The report also notes Lawley has plans to open a payment business
similar to PayPal for .XXX sites, which he says could process $3 billion
to $4 billion in transactions a year. "It was crystal clear that a
domain for the adult industry was going to be very successful," says
Lawley, who now lives in Jupiter, Fla.
