Automattic,the parent company of WP.com had been trying to obtain this domain name from its owner,Yahoo,for five years.They finally succeeded a few days ago.Although the price has not been reported yet,it's likely that the sale of the domain name will be included in Yahoo's quarterly report,so we can find out more about the price soon.Automattic also bought from Yahoo Blo.gs,domain name acquired by Yahoo in 2005.
So,Automattic is the lucky owner of WP.com.
