With IPv4 addresses running out rapidly, Verizon says businesses are better off adopting IPv6 sooner rather than later.
And with 4G (long term evolution - LTE) and WiMAX devices with dedicated
internet access, the demand for IP addresses will only increase, thus
necessitating the adoption of IPv6 even sooner, William Schmidlapp,
Verizon Business's product manager for Internet dedicated access
services, told Network World.
"If every phone in China becomes a smartphone, then every phone will
need an IP address," Waliur Rahman, Verizon's technical manager for IPv6
services, told Network World. "So you're going to have to include IPv6
as part of your network architecture."
