Using the Activity Index in Your Negotiation

sedo_logo_110x75.jpgSedo's recently introduced buyer and seller activity indexes were designed to help buyers and sellers negotiate more effectively. The activity indexes represent how active members are within the Sedo community and are based on the member’s sales activity. Knowing how experienced a member may be is useful in developing a negotiation strategy.

As a seller, by reviewing the buyer’s activity index you’ll have a better impression if you’re negotiating with a more or less experienced domainer. If the buyer’s first offer is not realistic, you’ll know to be patient if you see they are a less experienced buyer. Or if you’re a professional domainer and it appears you’re negotiating with a less experienced seller whose asking price is out of the ball park include justification when you counter-offer. Keep in mind that the activity index does directly represent a member’s reliability and is not a user feedback rating system. Additionally, a low activity index does not correlate with budget-a valuable buyer could be a corporation with a low activity index looking to secure one particular domain.

Our international platform enables buyers and sellers to connect wherever they maybe located. When sending your offer and comment remember that negotiation strategy varies by culture. A member’s listed country of origin should not be looked at as a reliability indicator, but may be helpful in setting a fair price (by knowing if the sale is tax is applicable), knowing what language to submit comments in.

The new offer page features were designed to add more transparency to the negotiation process and facilitate more successful negotiations.
