Travelocity ,an online travel agency,has recently won a domain name case covering seven domain names.
The travel agency submitted a complaint to the National Arbitration Forum,requesting the seven disputed domain names to be transferred from the respondent to the complainant.
The seven domain names are : rtavelocity.com,travealocity.com,travelaocity.com,travelocuity.com,travelocyty.com>,traveloecity.com and trivelocity.com.
Travelocity is the owner of a trademark registration for the "Travelocity" mark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Therefore,they contended that the disputed domain names are confusginly similar to its trademark.
Moreover,they contended that the respondent registered and used the domain names in bad faith.
"Respondent has engaged in the practice of typosquatting by using a common mistypings of Complainant’s TRAVELOCITY mark to misdirect Internet users. "
Because the respondent failed to submit a response in this proceeding and because the complainanat managed to demonstrate all the elements needed,the Panel decided the disputed domain names be transferred from the respondent to the complainant.
