Telnic,the registry operator for .tel,wants to offer one and two character domain names. In the request,Telnic assures ICANN that they will not offer domain names that correspond to an existing country code.
Moreover,they stated that they won't release one or two digit domain names at once.
Everyone interested in purchasing one or two character domain names will have to respond to a request for proposal in order to obtain the domain name. Only after this period ends,the domain names will be available for sale for a premium price.
