Slovak domain name registration system will face dramatic changes

SK-NIC,the company behind .sk domain name,is about to make some dramatic changes to its domain name regisration system.The company launched recently a public consultation with interested stakeholders. Slovak domain names can only be registered by national Slovak-base entities.This makes Slovakia the only country from Central and Eastern Europe with this system.Moreover,arbitration proceedings aren't available.

Therefore,the company decided to make some major changes.The first one and one of the most important one is the introduction of arbitration proceedings in order to resolve conflicts.

Another change taken into consideration by SK-NIC is an extension to the registration period.Currently,.sk domain names can be registered only for one year.SK-NIC plans to extend the period up to a maximum of 99 years .
