SIDN introduces new DNS check

The DNS check utility is a longstanding feature of SIDN’s website. The utility enables users to make sure that a delegated or undelegated domain name’s name servers are correctly configured and working properly by performing a series of technical checks. checks. On March 16, the existing utility is being replaced by a new and altogether more sophisticated service. The new DNS check utility will offer full support for IPv6 and DNSSEC.
The new open-source DNS check utility is the product of close collaboration between the Swedish registry, .SE, and SIDN. It is far more comprehensive than the existing utility and able to work with DNSSEC. The new utility will also determine whether a name server provides EDNS support and will test TCP connectivity. It also features enhanced IPv6 compatibility and can be used for domain names with suffixes other than .nl.
By default, the utility assumes that a domain name is already traceable via the DNS. All the user has to do is enter the domain name, and the checks are performed. A separate menu option is available for non-delegated domain names (i.e. new names and names that are awaiting transfer, which will involve a change of delegation). The user selects this option, then enters the name servers in the familiar way.
