The study reveals continued growth in .co.uk domain name sales .
10,600 domain names changed hands on Sedo's marketplace during the three months ending 30th June 2011 .Moreover, there was a £2 million increase in sales this quarter.
“The report findings, in particular the 13% increase in sales this quarter, disprove the theory that the announcement of new gTLDs will diminish the value of existing TLDs, as we can see that values are still growing steadily. Businesses interested in purchasing keyword domain names to expand their online real estate should be reassured that there are still many available which are relatively inexpensive, as the case of holidaysouvenirs.co.uk highlights," said Hugo Dalrymple-Smith, Director of UK operations at Sedo .
Other highlights inlcude :
- The majority of domain sales (60%) were for £500 or less, with only 4 per cent of sales being over £5,000, indicating that keyword domains are still available for a reasonable price
- The most costly country specific domain extensions are in France and Spain, with .fr having a median cost of £661 and .es of £615
