For anyone who believes right-wing conspiracy stories and want to
combine it with domain name governance, you need to look no further than
American Thinker and a recent article there entitled Islamic
Supremacists Envision a Takeover of the Internet.
How does this happen? Well, American Thinker says it is because ICANN
has changed the membership of its board and that "Europe and North
America will now have five seats on its Board of Directors, instead of
ten, and a new 'Arab States' region will have five seats as well."
The crazies at American Thinker say this is a big deal because at the
same time ICANN took out a reference to terrorism from the Draft
Applicant Guidebook for new gTLDs, which, the article claims "jihad
terror websites can grow and prosper, as ICANN has removed its own
ability to police them."
So if you want to see what the American far right believes, or love to
read up on conspiracy stories, check out the American Thinker article,
although not a lot of rational thinking has gone on in the article! The
article is available at americanthinker.com/2010/12/islamic_supremacists_target_a.html.
And to top off the article, check out the comments from outraged readers, who all believe in this far-fetched conspiracy story.
