The Registered Rights sunrise phase for previously reserved short domain names will be coming to a close at midday (GMT) on 17 January 2011.
Nominet, the not-for-profit organisation responsible for running the .uk Internet infrastructure, opened the application process for some of the UK's most valuable domain names – those with single numbers, single letters and two letters - on 1st December 2010. There are 2831 'short' domains available for registration, including one character and two letter combinations that can be of great benefit to registered trade mark holders.
"Having the right domain name has become a crucial way to enhance brand value and increase the public’s ability to access and interact with a business or individual. With just a few days left before the sunrise period closes, eligible registered trade mark holders should urgently consider an application," comments Nick Wenban-Smith, Senior Legal Counsel at Nominet and member of the project team for the short domains release.
