Recording Industry Association of America warns ICANN about .Music

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) warned ICANN that the new TLD .music could be used to encourage copyright infringement.

In a letter to ICANN deputy general counsel Victoria Sheckler said that they want ICANN to "ensure best practices are developed" so that musical TLDs are not being used to enable music piracy .
"We are concerned that a music themed gTLD will be used to enable wide scale copyright and trademark infringement.
We would like to work with ICANN and others to ensure that best practices are developed and used to ensure this type of malicious behavior does not occur.",said Victoria Sheckler .
"We strongly urge you to take these concerns seriously… we prefer a practical solution to these issues, and hope to avoid the need to escalate the issue further.",she added .
If ICANN will say no to their request,RIAA plans to go legal. However, even though RIAA plans to go legal ,ICANN could win the case in court. No court can say that something that has not yet been created will definitely be used for infringement.
