In the month since Pool.com and Quintaris, partners in providing business and technical support for new gTLDs, began allowing consumers to pre-order Internet domain names in likely new registries that will compete with existing ones like .com, .net or .uk, the total number "spoken for" has averaged 10,000 per day.
According to Tony Farrow, head of business development at Quintaris, "Now that ICANN has set a timeline for introduction of the new domain name registries, demand has been strong and growing." ICANN is the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, the organization responsible for authorizing the use of registries. It intends the new gTLDs to be brought online in 2010.
Quintaris, a leading web business consultancy that helps acquire, manage, market and maximize registry value, partnered with Pool.com, the market leading domain name acquisition and auction services company to create the pre-order program and "size the market."
