Following the relaunch of the .pro TLD with expanded registration
guidelines approved by ICANN, Registry.pro has announced a five-fold
increase in registrations since September 2008.
The changes in registry guidelines allow virtually any professional in
nearly any country to register a .pro domain name. Another reason for
the surge in registrations was the work with registry partner Network
Solutions, who at the same time provided a major push for the gTLD.“We effectively made .Pro available to tens of millions of professionals and entities worldwide,” said Catherine Sigmar, general manager of RegistryPro. “And, we have had some excellent partners like Network Solutions join us. Given Network Solutions’ position in the top echelon of registrars worldwide, they are in a unique position to maximize the penetration of the .Pro TLD.”
