A Dutch website, called Please Rob Me,was released this week in order to raise awareness about how dangerous might be revealing to much information on social networking sites.
The website is using streams of data from Foursquare. This is a location-based social network that is based on a game ,where members post when they are at a location.
The problem occurres when some users post these locations to Twitter. That way, this information becomes publicly available.
Frank Groeneveld, one of the founders of Please Rob Me said that their intention was not for the people to be robbed ,but simply to be cautious.
"We leave the lights on when we're on vacation, but we tell everybody we're not home on the Internet.",added Frank Groeneveld .
Of course, this is just one of the dangers of the Internet. You can never be too cautious when it comes to using Facebook,Twitter and other social networking applications.
