The WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center announced that a ruling has been issued in favor of Paris Hilton regarding rights to the internet domain name ParisHiltonHeiress.com .
All started when Paris Hilton filed a complaint with the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center,asserting legal rights to the disputed domain name. Paris Hilton trademarked "Paris Hilton" to represent a clothing line for both pets and humans.Therefore ,it is more than obvious that the disputed domain name is confusingly similar to its trademark.
Moreover,Paris Hilton contended that the respondent registered and used the disputed domain name in bad faith .
"Further, there are the Respondent’s own assertions and admission in correspondence. He is a domain name trader and the suggestion in this and various other emails that he should be paid at least USD 4,700 in relation to any transfer. Ultimately, it is clear that the Respondent registered the domain name in order to exploit the content of the Domain Name and its associations with the Complainant for his commercial advantage."
The Panel ordered the disputed domain name be transferred from the respondent to the complainant.
