.nxt - Washington Post covers the rush for Top Level Domain names

The .nxt conference termed as the Internet land rush was just concluded at the Hyatt Regency, San Francisco on 10 February 2011. It was hosted by the San Francisco Bay chapter of the Internet Society (ISOC), a non-profit organization that provides leadership in Internet related standards, education, and policy. In attendance were a wealth of experts including internet infrastructure companies, marketing and security experts, analysts, IP lawyers, investors, representatives from ICANN - the organization in charge of the gTLD process - and, of course, the applicants themselves.
DCA was represented by its members in ISOC and others to witness this historic domain name conference.  .nxt examined all aspects of this new piece of Internet infrastructure from applying for a gTLD and running the necessary technical systems to finding investors, marketing and differentiating the new extension.

According to the conferece website  the  Top 5 viewed extensions (of over 100)

   2. .green
   3. .gay

Ian Shapiro has written on the front page of The Washington Post an article about the future of the Internet through new gTLDs .Ian Shapiro wrote a very interesting article about the future of the new gTLDs,such as .eco ,.love,.god and .gay .
He also discussed about another interesting problem.Who will get to run some of the new suffixes, such as .amazon? The Internet retailer or Brazil.Who will get to run .abortion ?People who support abortion rights or those who don't?
It is more than obvious that there will going to be some problems with the expansion of the Internet's domain name system .
