"The panel responsible for considering disputes over .uk domain names is to welcome five new members.
Tim Brown, Gill Grassie, Ravi Mohindra, Richard Stephens and Clive Trotman will become independent experts for Nominet’s Dispute Resolution Service (DRS) following an open and competitive selection process. You can read their full biographies on the DRS web pages.
Because .uk domain names are registered on a first come first served basis, the DRS is a quick and fair way of dealing with disputes over registrations, for example in relation to trademark ownership.
The majority of DRS cases are settled through mediation, but in a minority of cases an independent expert is asked to consider the case and reach a decision in accordance with policy and procedure.
Since its inception, the DRS has resolved over 7,500 disputes and attracted praise from government and rights-holders themselves as an effective, low-cost mechanism for addressing intellectual property disputes."
