Nominet announced recently that they are considering the introduction of "Variable registration periods" that will allow registrants the opportunity to expand or to reduce the length of their registration.
"Offering .uk registrations for registration periods other than 2 years creates more choice for registrants and enables them to apply different strategies to management of their domain names, such as securing their domains for longer periods. However, as a significant change, we need to consider the potential impact in terms of registrations, renewals, data quality and customer service,"Lesley Cowley, CEO of Nominet.Therefore,Nominet calls for feedback from stakeholders on how VRP could be implemented .
The 4 options are :
1. Introduction of VRPs of 1, 2, 5 and 10 years
2. Introduction of VRPs of 2, 5 and 10 years
3. Introduction of VRPs of 1-10 years
4. Introduction of VRPs of 2-10 years
