ProGolfer.com Survey Results - Part 3 in Valuing Capital Domains
Posted by Michael Gilmour , Wednesday, 05 March 2008
In the previous article in the series on valuing capital domains I used a domain I own, progolfer.com as a test domain to see if it could be accurately valued. As a part of the valuation process I have now surveyed over 82 domain owners to see what they think the domain is worth

First of all I would like to thank all of those that to the time to participate in the survey. The survey question that was asked was “How much do you think PROGOLFER.COM is worth?” The results of the survey can be seen below.

Most people thought that ProGolfer.com should be valued between $5001 and $10,000 while the weighted average price is $42,145. Over 90% of users believe that the domain is valued at less than $150,000.

Despite these great estimates the only way to really find out the true value of a domain is to sell it. Over the next month or so I’m going to put progolfer.com up for sale on whizzbangsblog.com and see what price the domain actually sells for. It makes sense to put the reserve at the weighted average price of $42,145. As well as being an outstanding domain I will blog about what I did to try and market the domain to potential buyers.

If you have any ideas on what could be done then please don’t hesitate to contact me. Also, let other people know about the auction (once it’s up and going) as I think that it will contribute to all of our learning. I of course wouldn’t mind a higher price as well. :-)
