Moniker Auction Submission Process Explained

Active Image
Moniker is currently accepting domains for consideration in the Internext Expo auction. This is for ADULT DOMAIN NAMES only. Submission deadline now extended until July 16th and can be entered here .

Several people have asked for an explainantion of the new Moniker submission system for auctions. Submitting domains online is now a relatively easy process and we have eliminated emailing spreadsheets and faxing in contracts, finally!!

Here is the step by step:

Go to the auction page: http://marketplacepro.moniker.com/auction/index.html

Select the auction you desire and in the far right column click on “Submit Domains for Consideration”.

You will be asked to enter your Moniker User Name and Password

NOTE: FOR FIRST TIME On-Line Submitters Only – You will need to link your SnapNames Account to Your Moniker Account – This will allow you to view the auction activity and history.
Simply put in your Moniker password, then your SnapNames User Name and Password.  If you do not have one, simply click on the “New SnapNames user?“ to obtain an account.  You will be asked for a credit card which is part of the verification process to uphold the integrity of our auctions and reduce / eliminate fraud.  Your card will not be charged unless you make a purchase, which you are free to do!

Once you are finished putting in your Moniker and SnapNames account information, click NEXT.  You will not have to link the accounts together again.

Now you are given the option of submitting individual domains or use the downloadable template to submit up to 500 domains per template.  You can submit as many templates as you would like.  If you wish to change a price, simply upload a revised template.  The domain prices on the last template received will be considered your submitted price.
Consider saving the Master Copy of the template on your hard drive.  Then you can save a copy of that file for each specific auction using that auctions name.  This way you can easily upload the desired file for each auction and you have a record of your submissions.
On the template, there are three key points: 1. At this time, only these TLDs are being accepted: .com, .net, .org, .co.uk, .mobi, .info, .biz, .us, .de, .ca, .tv, .ws, ..la, .eu; and 2. Only columns A and B are required!  If you have additional information it would be in your best interest to accurately provide it; and 3. The categories and other information are on the next tab at the bottom of the page conveniently marked “Categories”.  If you do not want a reserve amount, enter “$0” in the reserve amount.  Please do not put in “No Reserve”.  For those who are submitting Domains with Assets which are web sites that are for sale, I will be able to spend more time in packaging and marketing your assets as I will also be able to do for portfolios of domains.

Quite a few of my clients have been using the categories option in their Moniker account to label each domain.  This allows them to quickly and easily select the desired category that is appropriate for each auction.

Once you have completed a template and saved it on your hard drive, go back to the Moniker auction submission page and click on the word “Browse” that will allow you to upload the template to us.  You will receive an email confirming we have received it.  I will also receive a copy and the auction committee will receive a copy.

Be sure to read the terms and conditions as they have changed slightly.  One key point is that if your domain is selected for an auction we want you to move it to Moniker as the registrar so we can quickly conclude the sale once it is sold and you can get paid quickly.  We want to avoid the length of time in getting domains over to Moniker to complete the sale. The current policy is that the option exists to charge $100 for those domains selected for an auction which are not transferred over to Moniker.  We do not want your $100 but we do want our buyers to be happy and to get what they pay for right a way.  Your cooperation is appreciated.  For answers to frequently asked questions, here is that link: http://marketplacepro.moniker.com/auction/auction_faq.html

Please note that there is still far more supply of domains than there is buyers and it is a buyers market.  If you want to sell your domains you will have to price them low and hope they get bid up past a point of your highest expectations.  It’s rare, but does indeed happen.

One last item is that the SnapNames auction for non-premium names is making lots of sales and is recognized on the street as the number one platform to move domains.  These auctions are different from the Premier Auctions conducted by Moniker and give you an excellent opportunity to sell non-premium domains.  Now you have an account you can also submit domains for their auctions.  For your domains to qualify they must: Be in your regular Moniker.com account so sales can quickly be filled and you can quickly be paid; Domains must have at least six (6) months registration remaining so the buyer receives value for the buyer; The domains must be a com, .net, .org, .info, .biz, or .us.  And yes, .mobi will be allowed shortly; and you should know that the commission is 20% of the sale amount.  For specific details, here is the link: https://www.snapnames.com/sellerProgramOverview.jsp
