Microsoft has recently acquired 666,624 Internet addresses for $7,5 million from Nortel Networks. That means that Microsoft paid $11.25 for every IP address, more than you will have to pay for registering a .com domain name.
Microsoft outbid four other companies that also wanted to acquire the 666,624 IP addresses.
Microsoft was interested to buy this IPv4 addresses because they are nearly gone.In the feature there will be an infinite number of IPv6 addresses. However, there will be some complications with the transition from IPv4 to IPv6 .
Unlike IPv4 who uses 32 bits to form an address,IPv6 will use 128 bits .This will mean that there will be a vast number if addresses.
