Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, and Cisco have registered their Montenegrin .ME Internet Addresses, showing that it is growing in popularity. During the Sunrise period, Google registered google.me and gmail.me, while the software giant, Microsoft registered addressed microsoft.me and windows.me. 1,582 formal requests had been submitted during the sunrise period requesting .me domain addresses formatted as “nameofthecompany.me.” 245 requests came from Montenegrin, while 1,337 came from foreign companies...
Montenegrin companies or those doing business in Montenegro have already registered their domains following the Sunrise period, like: ND “Vijesti” (vijesti.me), mobile operators Promonte (promonte.me) and T-Mobile (t-mobile.me), as well as Telecom Montenegro (t-com.me).
According to Predrag Lesic, Executive Director of “Domeni”, the .me registry, "These addresses are, for the time being, visible only if you query the database if a domain is available, which is how users can check if some internet address is already being used and by whom. Visibility which is also accessible for the Internet users is, for the time being, available only for Telecom Montenegro. We have received a request from Telekom to meet their needs with the earlier activation of the domain t-com.me, which had enabled them to conduct migration of their Email addresses from cg.yu to t-com.mne”.
Both “Sunrise” and “Landrush” period provided the possibility of bidding for a .me address which had more than one interested party. Bidding for such domains will open on July 21st. Open registration, based on the principle of “first come first”, according to an earlier announcement, should commence on July 17th.
You can register your .me domain name here.
