The Landrush application phase for the 2,640 remaining .uk short domains closed at midday (12.00 BST) on June 15,2011. Nominet received a total of 16,592 unique applications and applicants have a week to file payment ahead of the next step in the process.
Nominet's Sunrise WHOIS tool shows the number of completed applications for each short domain.After the payment window closes, any domain name for which there is only one completed application will be registered in the name of that applicant on 23rd June. Domain names which receive no completed applications will be made available on the usual first come, first served basis from 27 June 2011.
Domain names which receive more than one completed application will go to auction, and the domain name will be awarded to the applicant who places the highest bid. The net profits from the short domains release process will go to Nominet Trust.
