Jennifer Lopez Wins Lawsuit Over Website Domains

wipo_logo_110x75.jpgJennifer Lopez has officially won a lawsuit filed against a website operator out of Phoenix, Arizona who was using internet addresses under her name. Jeremiah Tieman was running sites with domain names JenniferLopez.net and JenniferLopez.org. The websites then directed users to another website that generated "pay-per-click" advertising profits.

Lopez registered her name as a trademark in the United States in May of 1999 and argued that the sites were in violation of U.S. copyright laws. Officials at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) agreed with the star, ruling in her favor and ordering Tieman to hand over the sites to Lopez within 10 days.

Lopez plans to give the addresses to her foundation, the Jennifer Lopez Foundation, which help provide better access to healthcare for women and children.
