The Web site for Iowa's state courts system will switch to a new domain name on Aug. 1, court administrators said. The new address, www.iowacourts.gov, is simpler and shorter than the domain used now, according to a press release. The "dot-gov" domain is already used by most state agencies in Iowa.
"More importantly, the new address is much easier to recognize and remember," Iowa Supreme Court Justice Marsha Ternus said in a statement. "A site that is easier to find will be critical in the future as the courts provide more online services and information." The new Web address has already been activated, and users can log in through the old Web address, www.judicial.state.ia.us. Iowans can use the Web site to pay fines, find basic case information and court forms, respond to a jury summons and view video of Supreme Court oral arguments. The judicial site averages more than 200,000 page views per day.
