Today,ICANN's Board of Directors approved one of the biggest changes ever to the Internet Domain Name System .
From now on,Internet address names will end with almost any word and in any language .“Today’s decision will usher in a new Internet age.We have provided a platform for the next generation of creativity and inspiration, ” said Peter Dengate Thrush, Chairman of ICANN’s Board of Directors.
The new gTLDs applications will start being accepted from January 12,2012 .

20 June,2011 - Comms Period begins
12 January,2012 - Launch Program (Application Window Opens)
12 April 2012 - Application Window Closes
November 2012 - Planned :Publish Initial Evaluation Results
