ICANN has recently opened a public comment forum on a proposed amendment from Afilias Limited to Appendix 6 & 7 of the .INFO Registry Agreement.
On 9 February 2010, ICANN posted for public information a request submitted by Afilias through the Registry Services Evaluation Process to release and allocate one and two-character names in .INFO via a phased allocation process. The Afilias proposal is available at http://www.icann.org/en/registries/rsep/afilias-request-09feb10-en.pdf .
As provided for by existing consensus policy ICANN has undertaken a preliminary determination to determine whether the proposal might raise significant security or stability, or competition issues. ICANN's determination is that the proposal did not raise such issues in .INFO.
