This week in Dakar, the ICANN community and Board of Directors are hammering out important details of the New gTLDs program.
One critical issue that remains unresolved considers in what order applications will be accepted and evaluated: a concept known as "batching." The importance of batching process will be determined by the number of applications received. If there are several hundred, or even thousands, they cannot all be considered at once.
What happens then? That discussion occupied a substantial amount of time during the Board's consultation with the Governmental Advisory Committee (GAC) on Tuesday.
