ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) has recently announced the launch of the IDN ccTLD Fast Track Process.
Starting November 16,ICANN will receive application from representatives of countries for the new Internet extensions .
“Over half the Internet users around the world don’t use a Latin-based script as their native language. IDNs are about making the Internet more global and accessible for everyone.”,said Rod Beckstrom,President of ICANN.
ICANN Chairman Peter Dengate Thrush also said that "“The IDN program will encompass close to one hundred thousand characters, opening up the Internet to billions of potential users around the globe.”
Indeed ,this is a huge step in the domain name industry.But there are also some things you have to know.
Individuals, companies, or organizations will not be able to register second-level domain names in their languages.You will be able to do this later.
