Google wins GoogleIdeas.org domain name in Arbitration

An arbitrator with the National Arbitration Forum has recently awarded GoogleIdeas.com domain name to Google .The company submitted a complaint to the National Arbitration Forum on September 1,2011,asserting legal rights over the disputed domain name . Google owns many trademark registrations for the "Google" mark.Therefore,they contended that the disputed domain name is confusingly similar to its trademark.Moreover,they contended that the respondent registered and used the disputed domain name in bad faith :

"Respondent’s registration and use of the domain name was done in bad faith.  The disputed domain name has been found confusingly similar to Complainant’s GOOGLE mark.  As a result, many Internet users seeking Complainant’s website will instead find themselves at Respondent’s website.  Internet users may become confused as whether Complainant sponsors Respondent’s website at .  "

The respondent failed to submit a response in this proceeding.

The Panel ordered the disputed domain name be transferred from the respondent to the complainant.
