An arbitrator with the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center has awarded the domain name GoogleSSL.com to Google. The company submitted a complaint with the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center on August 9, 2011 ,asserting legal rights over the disputed domain name .
Google owns many trademark registrations for the "Google" mark.Therefore,they contended that the disputed domain name is confusingly similar to its trademark.Moreover,they contended that the respondent registered and used the disputed domain name in bad faith :
" Google must be one of the best-known and most famous brands associated with the Internet. In this Panel’s view, the Respondent’s website is just a cheeky attempt to capitalize on the fame of the Complainant’s mark and to confuse Internet users into thinking that the Respondent’s site has some connection with the Complainant."
The respondent failed to submit a response in this proceeding .
The Panel ordered the disputed domain name be transferred from the respondent to the complainant.
