29th May 08 - Elections that just took place within ICANN's Registrar Constituency saw some interesting changes with the nomination of two Frenchmen - including EuroDNS' Executive Vice-President & General Counsel - and Snapnames' VP of Marketing.

Representing Registrars' interests and positions within ICANN, the Registrar Constituency holds annual elections to nominate its Executive Committee. As of today, Mason Cole from Snap Names will act as Secretary while EuroDNS' Jean-Christophe Vignes was appointed Vice-Chair. Also from France but with an British passport Stéphane Van Gelder will serve as Treasurer. Jonathon Newett from Network Solutions was confirmed as Chair for an additional year.

In a year where new gTLDs should reach the hundreds, those nominations could be a strong signal for the ICANN community, perceived from time to time as being too US-focused and a bit partial to the secondary market. The Registrar Constituency will hold its next meeting during the ICANN meeting in Paris.
