Spain's ccTLD, .es, passed the one million mark reports Sedo. The passing of the milestone occurred much more rapidly following liberalisation of the registration rules in the .es name space two years ago.
The liberalisation of registration rules resulted in more .es domain
names being registered in Spain than .com names for the first time in
2007. And the .es ccTLD has also become something of a default TLD for
the Spanish speaking world.
And as Sedo reports, the increase in registrations has led to much more
activity in the secondary market for .es domain names. In 2007 there
were sales of around one million dollars in .es domains with the
average sale price tripling over 12 months to US$4,600.
