Domain Round Table

Domain Round Table (DRT) is starting next Friday in San Francisco and I'm sure that it will be an outstanding event. I couldn't help myself, the allure of all those great domainers in one place was too much with the result I'm once again heading across the Pacific to join with my friends in celebration of our great industry.

What a grand statement that was! Happily it's true! Next Friday I'm boarding a plane to travel to DRT and while I'm there I've been asked to moderate a number of sessions relating to domain parking. The two sessions are:

One thing to be expected about the domain market space is the constant emergence of new companies with improved products and fresh perspectives.

As these venturesome entrepreneurs break into the market, we examine what unique options and services they have to offer domainers which enhance domains, increase traffic, and boost the value of a name overall.

With all the of the latest movements by Google and Yahoo, domainers are left to wonder: what is going to happen with parking? We've brought in a panel of parking professionals for an in-depth conversation on how PPC, fraud, and the evolution of our industry affects parking companies. The discussion will also hit on how the challenges parking companies face affect you as a consumer and a marketer. Our experts will offer some direction toward which of the latest tools to use, as well as advice concerning methodologies they recommend to help increase your revenue stream.

These are two great topics that will open up a plethora of options. The only sad thing is that they only go for one hour so I'll have to ensure that the answers are to the point and deprived of the political spin that they are often spoken with. It will be nice to try and reach a consensus of approach with the parking companies and have them express some of the difficulties that they face stuck between domainers and G&Y.

The new opportunities that are emerging for the monetization of domains is extremely exciting and if accomplished will possibly provide another mechanism for the monetization of domain names. For instance, I've always been a strong proponent of developing an advertising exchange which is a central hub around which all forms of advertising can be delivered in a timely fashion.

So, am I excited about attending DRT . Yes! What will be great will be to catch up with many of my friends, clients and meeting new faces while we all conduct business. So if you are going and we haven't met before I look forward to meeting you and if we have met before then it will be a pleasure to say "hi" again.
