A new Wall Street Journal article is confirming our report that marketing executives are fearful that a new partnership between Google Inc. and Yahoo Inc. may raise advertising rates while reducing control over where their ads are displayed, Furthermore, there is a real concern about what domain monetizers will end up getting paid in the future for the traffic they generate.

Advertisers are most concerned about whether the deal, between the two biggest sellers of search advertising, may affect the pricing of ads that appear alongside search results, a science in which online marketers invest heavily. The prices they pay Google for ads that are linked to searches for various search terms are established through an auction process, and while Google doesn't set prices manually, some experts sare saying that prices might rise for keywords in situations where Yahoo chooses to blend in Google ads, as more advertisers compete for those terms...

Tralliance Corporation, the dot.travel ( .travel ) top level domain registry believes that they will become increasingly prominent according to chief executive Ed Cespedes. Most domainers would agree that the .travel extension has not succeeded in being adopted universally as the travel industry domain extension. So far only 250,000 dot.travel names have been registered.

“We are seeing dot.travel sites rise in search results and countries such as Egypt adopting it exclusively”, and that is a very promising development for .travel according to Cespedes...

Sample ImageFor the past few articles I've been using poker as the analogy to explore the options for parking companies when negotiating with Google. As we have seen the balancing act that Google has established between themselves and the parking companies is critical and it just so happens that the easiest solution on how to manage it is to ensure that there are a number of parking companies (players) at the table which are all roughly the same size.

This creates competition in the industry and will mean that Google's potentially biggest problem is continuously fighting for market share rather than wondering how to stop them from cheating at the game.
