J+7 Domainer Meeting Paris - The Domainer Meeting that was held at the heart of Paris on the 19th and 20th June, was a great success and achieved all expectations with more than 300 attendees and some high profile speakers and sponsors from the Domain Industry. Today ICANN released French and Spanish versions of ICANN Policy Issue Briefs in furtherance of ICANN's internationalization efforts and to help better inform the community on important areas of Internet policy development.
While the briefs are designed to accommodate newcomers to ICANN, they also are meant to serve ICANN issue veterans as basic introductions to potentially unfamiliar issues. Today's releases include the following:
Draft Final Report - Recommendations for Fast Track - For Public Comment - Version 0.4 [PDF, 96K]
On 13 June 2008 the IDNC WG published its draft Final Report. The IDNC WG now publishes now an update of its first draft to include the results of the various face-to face meeting discussions of the first draft. Public Comments welcomed by 23 June 2008 The IDNC WG has produced its draft final report [PDF, 97K] for discussion by the GAC and the ccNSO pursuant to the charter of the IDNC WG. Please note this document has not been signed off by the IDNC Working Group. The public comment period on the draft officially closed on 23 June 2008. Summary: The IDNC Working Group (IDNC WG) report on the methodology it proposes that would enable the timely and efficient ("fast track") introduction of a limited number of non-contentious IDN ccTLDs, while an overall long-term IDN ccTLD policy is being developed.
Paris,
June 25th 2008 - Launched today at ICANN Paris, a new extension for
Internet domain names that will open a brand new horizon for Dutch and
international enterprises. From September 2008, companies and other interested
parties will be able to give a Dutch "flavor" to their Internet presence by
using the "CO.NL" ending.

NeuStar announced that two million domain names have been officially registered within the .BIZ Internet domain. NeuStar is the operator and administrator of the .BIZ top-level domain (TLD) registry, and was awarded the contract by ICANN.

NeuStar announced that two million domain names have been officially registered within the .BIZ Internet domain. NeuStar is the operator and administrator of the .BIZ top-level domain (TLD) registry, and was awarded the contract by ICANN.
An interesting new tool from Google, possibly set to be released as
soon as next week, is an ad measurement tool to measure internet use,
reports the Wall Street Journal.
