More than 1000 high quality .ca domain names are being auctioned by MyID.ca, a CIRA certified .ca domain registrar right now. Demand for .ca domains is very strong but with more than 1 million already registered, the availability of great names is non-existent as most were acquired many years ago by domain investors.  This first auction concludes tomorrow Friday May 30, 2008 at 1:00 pm EDT. Around 80 domains are being currently auctioned and include fabulous gems such as CV.ca, Diploma.ca, Fling.ca, Income.ca, Pharmacies.ca, FloorTiles.ca, and Eyeglasses.ca...

The new domain sales report is out at
DNJournal.com. If you feel like you are seeing double when you read the column this week - you are. There was no sales report last week because Ron was out of the office covering the T.R.A.F.F.I.C. East conference in Orlando. To bring you back up to speed this week's report includes all reported sales since the last report two weeks ago. All charts have been expanded from 20 to 40 positions to make sure the top sellers don't get lost in the flood of sales data...

According to sales figures provided by Sedo.com, the average price for a .co.uk domain has risen by 22% over the past three years, while the average price of a .com domains has fallen by 18 % over the same period of time. The average price for a .co.uk domain sold at auction via Sedo's online marketplace now averages about £2,614 while the more generic .com domains average is only £1,372...

In this video, Frederick Schiweck, Executive VP of Business Development for EuroDNS , and Managing Director of DomainInvest.com , spoke about how secure it is to keep your domains in the United States at TRAFFIC East in Orlando, Florida last week. He brought up some good points, when he pointed out that Cuban domains of a Spanish travel company have been rectnly blocked in the United States by a US based registrar.

  • A buyer's money was frozen when he bought Burma.net at SnapNames
  • TradeMark complaints are mainly with US registrars.

27th May 2008 - Now that TRAFFIC East is over, the next domain industry conference worth mentioning is the Domainer Meeting Conference in Paris, France. With more than 300 visitors expected, Domainer Meeting in Paris is going to be the largest European domain Aftermarket event. It will be held on the 19th and 20th June 2008 in Paris, only 2 days before the ICANN Meeting and will be held in the same Hotel .

We are glad to announce that the Domainer Meeting’s keynote speaker will be Phil Corwin from the ICA (Internet Commerce Association). Philip will give us a status on ICA’s initiatives and achievements, especially the latest ones regarding the “Snowe Bill”. He will also tackle some major issues impacting Domainers these days...

Diamonds may be a girl's best friend, but Diamantes.com is going to make someone very happy, and to be able to afford to buy their partner a few diamonds! Diamantes.com is currently selling for €250,000 on Sedo although the reserve is yet to be met with 11 hours of the auction to go.
