Arnhem, May 20th, 2008 - SIDN, the .NL registry, realized a growth of more than 509,000 .NL  domain names in 2007. The total number of .NL domain names was at 2,695,454 on January 1st, 2008, a net growth of 23%. These figures are listed in the 2007 annual report that SIDN published on www.sidn.nl today.

In 2007 SIDN took various measures to improve the service it offers to nearly 2,100 brokers and registrars. For example, the zone file frequency was increased, activating newly  requested .NL domain names faster and there is also a new monitoring system in place to monitor and track all incoming telephone and e-mails to the help desk...

Our friends at Domaines.info were present at the INTA conference in Berlin. They interviewed ICANN chief registrar liaison, Tim Cole after he discussed new gTLDs and IDNs during a workshop held at the International Trademark Association’s 130th meeting in Berlin.

After speaking at a session entitled "Trademarks and the Internet, Hot Topics" in the main auditorium, Tim Cole said, "As a former trademark attorney and INTA member, I was very happy to come here and discuss what’s going on at ICANN and in the domain name industry."

Today, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysian-based Qinetics Solution Berhad (“Qinetics”) has been awarded by Singapore Network Information Centre (SGNIC) Private Limited (“SGNIC”) for the provisioning of a registry-registrar domain name system for .SG domain name.

 

SGNIC has gone through a thorough tender process to upgrade the current Registry-Registrar system, in anticipation of further growth in the Internet industry in Singapore and also to streamline SGNIC’s operation...
