tmfor_logo_110.jpgAs previously discussed on Domain News, Verizon has sued domainer Navigation Catalyst and registrar Basic Fusion for cybersquatting.  As part of this lawsuit, the domain forum, TMFor.com has had a number of documents and information subpoenaed by the lawyers for Verizon.  A number of items were subpoenaed, including the identifying information for each member or participant of the forum.

It is not clear what the relevance of this information is to the case, and TMFor.com specifically denies any association with Navigation Catalyst and Basic Fusion.  For now, they have moved the forum to BonkersTwo and hired an attorney to quash the subpoena.

This move highlights the legal risks domain forums are taking in allowing their members to trade publicly in blatant trademark domains.

"It's interesting to me that a group of people decided to discuss the future of the .mobi domain yet declined to respond to requests by dotMobi to participate in that session. After all, there's a reason two of the top search engines providers -- Google and MSN -- invested in dotMobi, and I suspect we know a thing or two about SEO and mobility that the panelists aren't aware of -- especially judging from the write ups about the event I've seen. Some of the more glaring points I've read in reports about the session are:

traffic_conference_logo_110x75.jpgRick Schwartz sent the following memo out today reminding us about the impending domain conference in New York...

"Morning folks!! Hard to believe that TRAFFIC is just a week away. We have been working hard behind the scenes to do whatever we can to expose the power of domains to the universe. T.R.A.F.F.I.C. NEW YORK will be covered by the Wall Street Journal among other media and publications. In a world of declining asset values and declining real estate, domains continue to prove to be a solid investment and that is a story that needs to be told.

stock_market_arrow_down_110.jpgThe collapse of Lehman Brothers Holdings and Merrill Lynch has led to some enterprising people keen to cash in.

As well as Lehman coffee mugs and Merill-logo golf balls, others have registered domain names such as lehmanbankruptcy.com, offering to sell them for as much as $5,000 reports Reuters.
