Judge Wingate, the Judge in the Kentucky domain seizure case, said today that he needs seven days to decide whether to dismiss the case or to move forward with a forfeiture hearing.
The Governor’s attorney attacked the “owners” of the domain names subject to the seizure order repeatedly, accusing them of operating illegal casinos in Kentucky. This he justifies because the websites, which operate and are regulated in other jurisdictions, can be accessed from Kentucky. However, he didn’t comment on the defense’s statement that by that principle, TwinSpires.com, which is operated in and regulated by Kentucky, could be seized by other states...

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia - Qinetics Solutions Berhad (Qinetics), a leading Registry system provider, announced today that it has been awarded the tender by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of Oman to provide consultancy services to develop the domain name policy framework for Oman.
Each country or autonomous territory has a 2-letter country code that represents its “Top Level Domain (TLD)” under which Internet domain names can be assigned. For Oman, the country code is ‘.om’. TRA, the body in Oman that regulates the telecommunication sector of the Sultanate of Oman is in the process of taking over the function of managing the ‘.om’ TLD from the current incumbent ‘.om’ manager Omantel.

 The new weekly domain sales report is out at DNJournal.com. This wound up being the weakest week of the year. There are two likely reasons for that, one being the meltdown in the general economy and the other being the fact that nearly $5 million worth of domains were sold at the T.R.A.F.F.I.C. New York conference week before last, drawing a load of money out of the market at once. The top sale reported this week was under $30,000...
