Brussels, 26 May 2008 - EURid, the European registry for .eu, is pleased to announce that ICDSoft Ltd has become the first accredited .eu registrar in Bulgaria. The new .eu registrar should make it easier for Bulgarians to register .eu domain names, which are increasingly popular. The number of .eu domain names registered by residents of Bulgaria increased more than threefold between March 2007 and March 2008, from 1976 to 6356.

Since 2006, .eu has offered 490 million Europeans in 27 countries one single Internet identity. It has been available for Bulgarian companies, organisations and individuals since January 2007, when Bulgaria joined the European Union. Since then residents of Bulgaria have registered more than 6500 .eu domain names, a number that continues to rise.

EURid managers will visit Sofia on the 28th of May to meet with potential registrars to increase awareness of .eu in Bulgaria. Regina Fuchsova, EURid´s regional manager for the central European office in Prague, said ahead of the meeting:

"We are very pleased to announce that we crossed this important milestone and welcomed the first Bulgarian accredited registrar earlier this month. We are prepared to assist other companies in Bulgaria as well as in any other country with the accreditation process. We are able to provide our Bulgarian customers with service in their language via our Bulgarian liaison manager."
