If domain name sales are anything to go by, the French are more interested in cars to sex. In recent days there are reports auto.fr and voitures.fr were sold for €150,000. This compares to the €30,000 for porn.fr in January 2008.
Of the domains, auto.fr was regarded as the most valuable, making up
€100,000 of the package with voitures.fr selling for the remaining
€50.000.
The owners of the domain names monetise more than one hundred of domain
names such as beaute.fr, mode.fr and etudiant.fr through affiliations
and advertising partners. Jérôme Mouthon, President of SOLORUN SA and
co-founder of WEB618 said the company has decided to sell one to two
domain names per year to test the market.
