Following ICANN’s recent decision to expand the current 21 generic top level domains (gTLDs) and gather interest for new extensions that will coexist with .com, .mobi and others, Deloitte/Laga, EuroDNS and its corporate branch eBrand Services have set-up a common program that will ultimately give companies the possibility to hold their own space on the Internet that would immediately be recognizable, secured and controllable.
Jean-Christophe Vignes, Executive Vice-President and General Counsel of EuroDNS comments, “ICANN’s decision opens a new area for brand owners and will truly foster innovation, diversity, e-buisness and competition. The possibilities of a “dotBrand” are endless and the implications significant. We are really keen to offer our customers the best possible way to benefit from it and are delighted to work together with Deloitte/Laga and eBrand Services. Each party brings years of expertise to the project, and we believe this partnership will lead to the perfect solution”.
After widely successful seminars across Europe, the three Partners are ready to outline the next steps. Following a “kick-off meeting” where all interested teams within a company will present their ideas and wishes for their dotBrand, Deloitte/Laga will be providing in-depth analysis and preparation, which will help customers to fully understand the scope of such a project and to turn their new gTLD application into a successful one.
eBrand Services and EuroDNS will be part of the process, providing ways to optimize, protect and position the brand while fulfilling ICANN’s requirements. Additionally, thanks to its 10 years of experience and know-how in domain names, EuroDNS is able to provide the technical backend needed to make a dotbrand a long-standing reality on the Internet.
Torben Valnert, COO of eBrand Services, explains “The domain name is no longer a simple network identifier, but has become altogether a brand, a prestigious main street address and a whole place of business. An essential e-commerce tool, enough to drive consumers and empower suppliers, the domain name is ready to experience its new evolution, as shown by our “dotBrand” solution”.
Bart Lieben, Partner Laga adds “We have been quite impressed with the level of interest in the dotBrand concept from participant in our seminars. Major corporations already understand this is the perfect solution to enhance Internet presence, keep customers onto the brand’s unique Internet platform, to avoid phishing and cyber squatting and to take full control over Internet space”.
Deloitte/Laga, EuroDNS and eBrand have been running a number of informative seminars across major European cities, and new dates and locations are planned for 2009.
