.eu is the second most commonly sold country code top-level domain (ccTLD) according to the 2010 Domain Market Study report issued by Sedo, a domain name sales marketplace. .eu achieved 20% of ccTLD sales in 2010 which moved .eu into second position for the first time.
"This report confirms the market trend that .eu is being used more frequently. It is of course our aim to increase the registration of .eu domain names by enabling EU residents to use .eu to express themselves online," said Marc Van Wesemael, General Manager of EURid, the .eu registry.
Sedo reports that overall in 2010, .de was in first position with 46% of ccTLD sales, followed by .eu with 20% and .co.uk with 14%.
