Dot Travel Domain Extension Gaining Popularity

Active Image
Tralliance Corporation, the dot.travel ( .travel ) top level domain registry believes that they will become increasingly prominent according to chief executive Ed Cespedes. Most domainers would agree that the .travel extension has not succeeded in being adopted universally as the travel industry domain extension. So far only 250,000 dot.travel names have been registered.

“We are seeing dot.travel sites rise in search results and countries such as Egypt adopting it exclusively”, and that is a very promising development for .travel according to Cespedes...
“Dot.com is finally reaching saturation and today there are no more three, four and five digit domain names or a combination of letters and numbers. The prediction is that within five years all the combinations up to 10 characters will be gone.” According to Cespedes, 20% of the 76 million registered dot.com names belong to the travel industry.
Cespedes said: “For the first time there is a movement saying we will have to mobilise other things so there is an opportunity for a new domain.” Cespedes admitted there was a lot of work to be done to convince people of the value but that he is optimistic because the sheer volume of players on the internet will also drive companies to seek new ways of establishing a presence.
Tralliance is planning campaigns in various key markets this year to promote the dot.travel TLD and its benefits.
