DENIC decided to run a DNSSEC platform for experimentation in Germany .
The Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC) are a suite of the Internet Engineering Task Force specifications for securing certain kinds of information provided by the Domain Name System (DNS) as used on Internet Protocol (IP) networks.
It is a set of extensions to DNS which provide to DNS clients (resolvers):
-Origin authentication of DNS data
- Data integrity (but not availability or confidentiality)
-Authenticated denial of existence
DENIC thought it was the time for this testbed in Germany,so together with eco and BSI they are trying to implement DNSSEC.
"The target of this project is to gradually set up a DNSSEC test operation together with all interested providers and users and to test the use of DNSSEC in an environment that is similar to the production environment. The testbed is accompanied by regular meetings with all parties involved."
