CZ.NIC announced they have reached the 600,000th registered .CZ domain
name earlier this month. The milestone was reached on 30 September.
Jumping from 500,000 to 600,000 registered domains took less than ten
months with around 10,000 domain names being registered every month.“The .CZ domain has held the position of most requested domain for a long time with Czech registrars, which essentially confirms the global trend for the preference of national domains. On average, this year we have recorded around 10,000 new .CZ names every month” said Ondřej Filip, Executive Director of the CZ.NIC association.
Another reason for the increase in domain name registrations was the introduction of a new domain name management system in October 2007 called FRED. This made the registration process much quicker and simplified the process and made the registration costs cheaper.
